Waiting on the One
This is a letter and story to the person who not only defined what love is but also what God's love looks like in everyday life.
Dear ____,
You are different. Just like every person is different but you are truly unlike any guy that I have crushed on. During sophomore year I chased and chased after people who weren't ever going to appreciate me and accept me the way I wanted them to. It was heartbreak after heartbreak as well as rejection after rejection. You would think that I would learn after the three heartbreaks in one month. What I realized was that I was chasing after love that I wanted to distract me from everything else that was going on in my life. When I met you after all that heartbreak I was truly surprised by you! I have said this a billion times and I am saying it again. I truly never expected you to fall for me. Moreover, while I did learn that you were Christian and through our conversations, it was really clear what kind of person you were. You showed me what true love is and God revealed you to me in many ways. It seems like he was giving me a glimpse of what love should be like and that I can trust in God! He has plans for me that are beyond what I want. God knows exactly what I want and I am going to do my best to wait on my possible future significant other. You helped me through hard times and taught me about the hard times. How God is always working and to trust in him, especially in tough times. I am grateful to you. Always have been since the day I met you. Even though we never got to go further than just being good friends. I hope that we both continue to grow more like Christ every day!
Probably the biggest lesson that I learned through all of this is that the way that God loves is the way we should all love! That his love never fails and he sees you through every situation.
Sincerely,
Naomi Yeo
